Job Description

A forensic pathologist, also known as a medical examiner or a forensic medical examiner, is a specialized medical doctor who investigates the cause and manner of death in cases that involve legal or criminal implications. Their expertise lies in determining the circumstances surrounding deaths that are sudden, unexpected, violent, or suspicious in nature.

Job Responsibilities
  • Examine microscopic samples to identify diseases or other abnormalities.
  • Diagnose diseases or study medical conditions, using techniques such as gross pathology, histology, cytology, cytopathology, clinical chemistry, immunology, flow cytometry, or molecular biology.
  • Write pathology reports summarizing analyses, results, and conclusions.
  • Communicate pathologic findings to surgeons or other physicians.
  • Identify the etiology, pathogenesis, morphological change, and clinical significance of diseases.
